This Item is a Rare National Semiconductor MM1702AQ 2048-bit (256 x 8) EPROM in White Ceramic as per the Photos.
National Semiconductor, a USA Semiconductor Company were a Second Source for a number of Intel Products including the 1101 SRAM , the 1402 Shift Register, the 1702 Eprom, the 8008 Processor and the 8080 Processor.
Customers, particularly large ones like IBM, often insisted on multiple manufacturers for chips to ensure a consistent and reliable supply chain.
Relying on a single source could lead to disruptions and potential shortages, which was a major risk
The intel 1702A was released by Intel during the 4th Quarter of 1972.
The 1702A is packaged in a 24-pin dual in-line package with a transparent lid.
The transparent lid allows the user to expose the chip to ultraviolet light to erase the bit pattern.
A new pattern can then be written into the device.
This MM1702AQ Chip appears to have been manufactured during Week 11 of 1975 in the USA.
I am unable to test this Chip for functionality so it is being sold for collection purposes only and as such has no warranty or guarantee of being functional.
I can assure any buyers that the prices for these vintage Chips will rise significantly over the coming years as they have done so over the past 30 years so it will be a good investment for them as the majority of the older chips have been scrapped for their gold content.
